In Borneo, the orangutan population is estimated at around 55,000 people, while in Sumatra, the number is estimated at around 200 individuals, this occurs due to excessive land clearing.

The biggest threat Orang Utan

The biggest threat being experienced by orangutan habitat is increasingly narrow because of the rain forest area that became home made as palm oil, mining and trees felled for timber.

Orangutan has lost 80% of its habitat in less than 20 years. Quite often they are also injured and even killed by farmers and landowners because they are considered pests.

If a female orangutan was found with child, then the parent will be killed and his son then sold in the illegal pet trade.
Established a rehabilitation center for treating oranutan sick, injured and who have lost their mother. They were treated with the aim to be returned to their natural habitat.

But in fact, the hunters still hunt them, mostly for the pet trade.

On international law, orangutans included in Appendix I of CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species), which prohibits trade because given the conservation status of this species wild-free.

For every orangutan who arrived in Taiwan, then there are 3 to 5 other animals that die in the process.

Trade orangutans have been reported in Kalimantan, where both the orangutan was alive or dead also remains unsold.
